Montevive Reaches the Finals of the BSC AI Factory Acceleration Programme

87 startups, 15 selected, and only the best advance.

Montevive AI has just passed the mid-term evaluation of the BSC AI Factory Acceleration Programme and continues as a finalist toward the Demo Day on July 23rd. Here's what this means, what we're building on MareNostrum 5, and why our visit to the Torre Girona chapel was one of those unforgettable moments.

🚀 What is the BSC AI Factory Acceleration Programme?

The BSC AI Factory is the applied artificial intelligence initiative for businesses driven by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center within the European EuroHPC initiative. Its acceleration programme aims to turn AI startups into the next European "AI Champions," and does so with an impressive roster of partners: NVIDIA, AWS, SeedRocket, ACCIÓ, and Cuatrecasas.

Over 10 sessions between May and July, the programme combines:

  • Structured training in technology, business, legal, and fundraising
  • Technical mentorship from NVIDIA teams (Open Hackathon and NVAITC)
  • Business mentorship from SeedRocket
  • Access to the BSC ecosystem and its computing infrastructure
  • A final Demo Day before a jury of investors

All of this at no cost and without giving up equity. Public talent serving the Spanish and European entrepreneurial ecosystem.

✂️ The Cut: Only the Most Promising Projects Continue

The programme has a feature we particularly appreciate: getting in isn't enough—you must demonstrate progress and technical potential.

After the initial sessions, the programme team evaluates each startup's progress, traction, and technological fit. Only finalist projects continue to the final phase.

Passing this cut validates something we've been working on since day one: that security and compliance of AI in regulated organizations isn't a niche—it's an urgent necessity. And that our commitment to building on Spanish and European public technology (BSC models and the ALIA ecosystem) makes both technical and business sense.

🧠 What We're Building with the BSC Ecosystem

For those reading us for the first time: MOVIWA is our enterprise AI security platform that enables regulated organizations (healthcare, legal, financial, public sector) to use AI in an auditable manner compliant with GDPR, NIS2, ISO 27001, and the EU AI Act.

Our work plan on MareNostrum 5 includes three lines of work:

1. Vertical PII Models for the Legal Sector

Specialized editions of our personal data detectors for legal environments, built on the Spanish-language encoders published by the BSC.

2. Spanish Embeddings from ALIA-40B

A distilled embeddings model that doesn't exist publicly today. We'll release it under the Apache-2.0 license as a contribution to the ecosystem: the key piece for sovereign and on-premise RAG in regulated organizations.

3. Large-Scale Prompt Injection Classifier

The next defense layer for our agent plane, trained on BSC infrastructure.

This collaboration doesn't start from scratch:

🏛️ Visiting the BSC: From MareNostrum 5 to the Torre Girona Chapel

One of the most special experiences of the programme was visiting the BSC facilities in Barcelona.

We got an up-close look at MareNostrum 5, one of Europe's most powerful supercomputers and the machine we want to train our models on. It's impressive inside and out.

And then, the crown jewel: the Torre Girona chapel, probably the world's most beautiful machine room.

This is where the original MareNostrum lived, the supercomputer that put Spain on the supercomputing map in 2005. Today, the chapel houses two experimental quantum processors: past and future of computing sharing the same space. Hard not to feel a bit of butterflies.

🗓️ What's Next: Demo Day on July 23rd

Now the final stretch begins. In the coming weeks, we have fundraising and pitch preparation sessions, and on July 23rd comes the decisive moment: Demo Day at Tech Barcelona, where we'll present MOVIWA to a jury of 15 investors and ecosystem players.

From among the finalists, the programme will select 3 "AI Champions" who will continue with an incubation at Barcelona's Pier07 from October 2026 to March 2027.

Undoubtedly a great opportunity to showcase MOVIWA.

🙏 Thank You

Thanks to the BSC AI Factory team for the opportunity and guidance, to the mentors from NVIDIA, AWS, SeedRocket, ACCIÓ, and Cuatrecasas for their generosity, and to our cohort partners, from whom we're learning immensely.

And thanks, as always, to our clients and our team: this achievement belongs to everyone.

We'll keep you updated. Next stop: Demo Day. 🚀
